“Second to none” Incense Cedar

Last year we were approached and asked to try Kiln Dried Incense Cedar for our decking program. We bought in and promoted it all summer long and into the winter with only favorable results. Customers were happy and we had no issues arise.

So when deciding what to do for this summer building season it was clear that it was time to double down on Incense cedar decking.

What is Incense Cedar? First of all it is one of 4 species of trees included in the grading group “Western Cedars” So along with Western Red Cedar, Alaska Yellow Cedar and Port Orford Cedar it shares the same characteristics such as rot and insect damage, strength and hardness. Further, it is lighter in color and has mainly smaller knots.

We are now stocking Kiln Dried, Premium Appearance Incense Cedar in

5/4×4  8′,10′, 12′,14′,16′ Lengths

5/4×6 8′, 10′, 12′, 16′ Lengths

2×4 8′, 10′, 12′ Lengths

2×6 8′, 10′, 12′, 14′, 16′ Lengths

4×4 8′, 10′ and 12′ Lengths

4×4 Clear in 6′ and 8′ Lengths

And Finally, what really makes Incense Cedar work for us all is the fact that it is very competitively priced, on average 20% less than comparable western red Cedar products

Cedar Grilling Planks ??

Of course this is something we would have, we love western red cedar and we love seafood, salmon to be specific.

ImageImage

The pungent taste of Western Red Cedar smoke clinging to a fresh salmon fillet is a culinary experience you must enjoy. Once you have, you will be coming back again and again for more. We are not out back cutting fence boards to make these planks though, they are an overstock at a national manufacturer where we just happen to buy a lot of our Cedar lumber. They are surfaced and kiln dried with lots of the natural aromatic oils that give planked seafood it’s delicious taste. At $2.50 each they are cheap even for hobby lumber and less than half of the price they would normally sell for through normal outlets. Load up now, give then to your friends, but most important, gobble up some delicious smokey seafood

Western Red Cedar Tsunami of Values

Mill Outlet has always been a reliable source for great deals on Cedar and Pressure Treated lumber. Right now there seems to be an up swell of exceptional new cedar products in our little pond. More like a Tsunami, relentless and overwhelming wave after wave of great values.

Image

I receive many calls from people looking for board and batten siding, usually looking for 10 or 12″ wide boards. Our new 5/4×8 rougherheaded blanks will work great for board and bat. In fact you can install the full width boards with a 2″ space between them, then rip more in half for 3 5/8″ battens to cover the space. you will be looking at about oot for burly 1″ thick rustic siding. Our you can use these for trim and fascia board or to build a Gazebo like one customer this morning. These blanks are one of the, if not “the” best value I have seen in Cedar in 30 years.

Image

As If that was not amazing, we also have excellent inventory of 2×8, 2×10 and 2×12 cedar boards, Priced right and selling fast they be. People are using them for raised beds but also for Pergolas arbors and fences. This is lumber you will not find in just any old yard.

And there is more,, use it for decking, fencing or general garden use, at $ you can not lose.

Image

And Vertical grain clears in just about every imaginable size, boat builders, hobbyists and most recently used for rainscreen style siding, which I am certain looks amazing

Some Things you just have to Share

There is no end to the new and different wood products we come up with at Mill Outlet Lumber. This week there are Four, Happy New Year. We brought in some Knot free, Clear Incense Cedar 4×4 posts on Monday to see how they looked, the price was already right, and they are beautiful! Tight Grain and perfect.

Image

So, we ordered up the rest of them, should be enough to last into the Summer unless too many people find out about them.

Second Item of the week is Pac-Trims, this 1×4 tongue and groove has been taking off at          t since it came in a couple of weeks ago, so we doubled down and have another big stack on the way next week. This will ensure that we have this great material available for the next month or so. In addition to the 1×4 we also picked up some 1×6 in 12′ and 14′ lengths that will be available f

Pac Trims

Third, we just received several thousand feet of 5/4 x 8 Cedar Bevel Siding Blanks. We will make some of this into bevel siding, but also decking or tongue and groove paneling. Until then, it is available just the way it is for This would work great for Board and batten siding or any sort of exterior trim. It has a rougher texture, but I would use it as decking just the way it is, or fencing,,,or???

Image

Inexpensive, quality cedar

Finally, something you probably wouldn’t guess. , that’s less than you can get the 2×6 for, and then still have to make it.
